{"id":117,"date":"2015-01-08T14:26:51","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T14:26:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/egsnews.eurogeosurveys.org\/?p=117"},"modified":"2015-01-27T13:45:52","modified_gmt":"2015-01-27T13:45:52","slug":"eurogeosurveys-organization-of-african-geological-surveys-workshop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/egsnews.eurogeosurveys.org\/?p=117","title":{"rendered":"EuroGeoSurveys \u2013 Organization of African Geological Surveys Workshop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the <strong>8th and 9th February 2015 <\/strong>in Cape Town, South Africa,<strong> EuroGeoSurveys (EGS) and The Organisation of African Geological Surveys (OAGS) will hold a joint Workshop<\/strong> to present and discuss the final draft of the feasibility study \u201cGeoscientific Knowledge and Skills in African Geological Surveys (<strong>PanAfGeo<\/strong>)\u201d. Key stakeholders such as UNECA, UNDP, UNESCO, World Bank and SEAMIC will also take part in the meeting. The study investigated how to increase African-owned geological knowledge and skills for sustainable mineral exploitation and related infrastructures, and natural disasters prevention and mitigation.<\/p>\n<p>The Workshop also intends to discuss a possible future multiannual Project &#8211; including objectives, methods of implementation, trainings and partnerships &#8211; implementing the report\u2019s recommendations.
